Fitchburg State College
Fitchburg, MA

This state college in north central Massachusetts needed to update its outdoor walkways, plazas, ramps and stairs to make them handicap accessible. RDLA was hired to design these new access points. Connecting the central campus to the Library Building, these passageways needed to be both functional and visually in keeping with the campus as a whole. By using innovative plantings that draw the eye along green corridors and careful sculpting of the existing contours, we managed to incorporate all the additional access points into a seamless and universally accessible design plan. Site work is planned to start in summer 2008.
