THE project

RDLA provided design services for this Central Massachusetts campus strengthening universal access to several major buildings on a steep site.

With a new Entrance at the Holyoke Community College Student Center, RDLA designed the landscaping to inspire students, faculty, and visitors throughout the seasons. Wetland plantings are selected for the Tannery Brook entrance. New, all native shade trees, shrubs, grasses and a wildflower meadow seeded on the slope will bring life into the landscape.

RDLA designed a new granite seat wall for students and faculty to read and enjoy the outdoors locally between their busy schedules. Plantings behind the seat wall will be viewed both outdoors and from inside through the tall windows. Flowers, grasses, and evergreens soften the views and add color to the plant bed through the winter months.
