Dorchester Park Pathways

Location
Dorchester, MA

RDLA lead improvements to this historic Olmsted Brothers park, integrating universal accessibility, landscape restoration, and infrastructure upgrades while preserving the character of the original design. Improvements to pathways and entrances are complemented by careful repair and repointing of historic stonework, along with new historically appropriate lighting that improves safety and visibility while respecting the park’s distinctive setting.

Landscape improvements focus on strengthening the park’s horticultural character and long-term resilience. New plantings are selected to complement the historic landscape while responding to contemporary environmental conditions and maintenance needs. Together, the improvements to circulation, historic features, lighting, and planting create a more accessible and welcoming public landscape while reinforcing the qualities that have defined the park for more than a century.
